GranBoard for Android is a companion app for the GranBoard electronic dartboard that turns your phone or tablet into a feature-rich scoreboard and control center. It suits dart players who already own a GranBoard and want structured game modes, online competition, and detailed statistics rather than a simple score counter.

Extensive modes for competitive and casual play

The strongest part of GranBoard is the breadth of game types. Up to 8 players can join a match, which works well for both solo practice and busy game nights.

For traditional play, the app supports a full slate of -01 games, from 301 through 1501, with single, doubles, 3v3, and 4v4 options and a master setting for stricter finishes. Cricket is also well covered, including Standard, Cut Throat, Hidden, and Hidden Cut Throat, each available in the same range of formats.

If you enjoy longer sets, the Medley modes let you chain multiple legs into one session, with selectable lengths from 3 to 15 legs and a function to change the game combination. For solo players, the ANIMAL BATTLE AI provides an opponent across six difficulty levels (LEVEL 1 to LEVEL 6), which is useful when no one else is around.

On top of that, the app includes a long list of practice games such as COUNT UP, CR. COUNT UP, HALF IT, SHOOT FORCE, ROTATION, ONIREN, DELTA SHOOT, MULTIPLE CRICKET, TARGET BULL, TARGET T20, TARGET HAT, TARGET HORCE, SPIDER, and PIRATES, plus several party games like beyond top, two lines, hyper bull, hide and seek, tic tac toe, fun mission, and treasure hunt. The variety keeps sessions fresh and makes it easier to tailor a night of darts to players with different skills and interests.

Online play with a large community, but limited game coverage

GranBoard connects to GRAN ONLINE, which the developer presents as a very large online competition network. From home you can match against opponents from around the world, and use your device’s camera for video calls so online games feel closer to face-to-face play.

Once you register a GRAN ID, the app lets you add friends, invite them, and compare rankings based on your play data. Competing against familiar names can be a strong motivator to keep practicing.

However, the online implementation shows some rough edges. Linking up with specific friends can be awkward, with instances where it is hard to see when they are actually online. More limiting, only a relatively small portion of the app’s game catalog is available for online play with friends. You cannot use most modes in that context, including some you may have paid extra for, which creates a mismatch between the rich offline selection and what is available when you want to play directly with someone you know. The core idea of remote darts works well, but the current restrictions on which games support it can be frustrating.

Training tools, awards, and performance tracking

For players who like to monitor their progress, GranBoard provides thorough stat tracking. Game results are stored on the server, and the app presents data such as highest scores, average scores, and the number of awards in charts and graphs that are easy to read. This makes it much simpler to see how your performance changes over time.

Visual and audio feedback are another highlight. When you hit key milestones like LowTon, HatTrick, HighTon, 3 in a Bed, Ton80, WhiteHorse, or 3 in the Black, the app plays full-screen award movies backed by strong sound effects. These celebrations make big shots feel satisfying and add energy to both practice and match play.

More advanced players can fine-tune rules through custom game options such as CORK in Match mode, Separate Bull, Double-in-Out, and Master-in-Out. These settings bring the experience closer to competitive formats and give serious players more control over how each game is scored.

Local multiplayer held back by account requirements

While GranBoard technically supports up to eight players, the app’s handling of profiles can get in the way of relaxed local play. A previous family function has been removed, and the current design expects every participant to sign up for their own account inside the app.

For a household that likes to host friends or relatives for casual darts, this is a major inconvenience. Having to create individual accounts and add them each time, instead of quickly naming guest slots, slows everything down and can turn what should be a simple game into a chore. The quality of the physical GranBoard stands out, but this account-heavy approach on the software side can undermine the overall experience when you mainly play in person with guests who do not use the app elsewhere.

Overall verdict

GranBoard delivers a deep and varied software environment around the GranBoard dartboard, with a wide selection of games, AI opponents, strong visual feedback, and detailed statistics that will appeal to committed players. The global GRAN ONLINE network and video call support make it a fun way to compete from home when remote opponents are available.

At the same time, two aspects hold it back: a cumbersome account system for local guests and an online friend experience that exposes only a small slice of the game catalog, even for paid modes. If you are primarily interested in structured practice, solo play, and occasional matches against random online opponents, the app is very capable. If your focus is family play in the living room or frequent online games with specific friends, these limitations may feel like obstacles.
